ELSA / Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Hourly Rate: £14.70 - £16.04 per hour (£26,265.95 - £28,660.26 dependent on experience and qualifications) Plus £2,000 Welcome bonus*

Contract: Full-time, Term time only
Hours: 40 hours per week
REED Education are on the lookout for a talented ELSA / Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team in Effingham, Leatherhead. The successful candidate will deliver interventions around emotional literacy and mental wellbeing to our autistic students aged between 11 – 16, who have associated behavioural and communication difficulties, and some may have multiple learning difficulties.
Day to Day of the role:
- Support the SENCO, Clinical teams, and class teachers with aspects of emotional literacy as identified.
- Assist the Class Teacher in the day-to-day running of the class and support with the delivery of emotional literacy.
- Work closely with team members delivering therapeutic interventions and support the implementation of therapy programmes, strategies, and supports in class.
- Be flexible and able to adapt to the varying needs of the role and lend a hand whenever required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification or demonstrate equivalent skill level.
- ELSA qualification is desirable, or the candidate must be willing to achieve this qualification within the first 2 years in post.
- Knowledge of/experience in special educational needs, particularly autism is essential.
- Experience working with young people with emotional literacy needs is essential.
- Knowledge of/experience in working with young people with trauma and attachment/ACEs is desirable.
- Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
