Silver Swan is currently working on a very exciting opportunity for a highly experienced House Manager / Butler, to lead a fully staffed household for our esteemed client in the UK. The role will see the successful House Manager / Butler helping to run all aspects of the principals and their family’s home and the service within it, on their stunning country estate in Wiltshire. The estate is substantial and has numerous buildings and properties in addition to the main residence, which will also need to be looked after. The residence is primarily used at weekends and school holidays, so weekend working is likely to be required. The family consists of the 2 principals and their 3 children. We are searching for an experienced domestic professional to take on this House Manager / Butler role that encompasses the management of a fully staffed household and auxiliary properties.

Responsibilities:
Supervision of all estate properties, inclusive of garden oversight managed by a team of two gardeners.
Regular updates of household manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain top-tier standards
Recruitment, training, and management of both permanent and temporary staff members, along with organising rotas and hiring for events
Responsible for the welfare of two Cocker Spaniels
Leading meal service for various occasions from casual family meals to formal dinners and other events, showcasing proficiency in cigar knowledge, fine wine, food pairing, and formal butler services
Maintaining inventory and managing purchases, ensuring meticulous care of glassware, porcelain, and flatware
Welcoming and accommodating guests, maintaining records of guest visits, preferences, and dietary requirements. Collaborating with visiting guest PAs to fulfil their needs
Coordinating with the Estate Manager and Chief of Staff on shoot logistics, house maintenance, and fault reporting
Ideal Candidate:
Previous service experience or ex-military background an advantage, but not mandatory
Strong work ethic, discipline, adeptness in formal environments, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive under pressure
Exceptional communication skills, adept at building professional relationships across all levels, flexible, and quick to adapt to changing circumstances
Proficiency in maintaining a formal but invisible presence within an informal family setting, exemplary table setting skills, and the capability to meet diverse guest expectations effortlessly
Package
Salary: £65,000 per annum (live-out)
Location: Wiltshire, UK (candidates preferably based locally or willing to relocate)
