THE JOB:
As part of a team, you will make a real contribution to improving people's lives by:
- Working with local authorities and other agencies who refer people who are homeless or under the threat of homelessness to secure them accommodation.
- Help them complete paperwork, claim benefits, and access services to improve their future and life skills.
- Supporting people who may have mental and physical disabilities, addictions and educational needs. Therefore, you must approach each situation non-judgmentally, showing empathy and compassion.
They will consider both full-time and part-time applicants.
You will be required to cover evenings and weekends on the on-call rota system.
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
If you have an understanding of homelessness and/or housing experience, wonderful, you'll be able to hit the ground running.
However, many team members have joined with "no experience". What everyone has in common is their attitude and approach to work:
- Great communication skills
- Supporting and calming manner
- Professional and able to work on own initiative
- Life experience
You will require a car and a valid driving licence for work purposes.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
- £24,000 - £28,000, for 40 hours per week dependent on experience
- 20 days holiday, increasing with long service + public holidays
