About Haringey

Haringey Council is one of 32 in London. Haringey is an extremely diverse borough, and the Council has set clear ambitious objectives through its borough plan to make Haringey a better place to live, encourage investment and create opportunities that all can share. Haringey’s vision for the future is one of sustainable growth, in housing and jobs and on helping our residents and businesses take advantage of that growth. We have got huge ambitions for Haringey. As the shape of local government continues to change, we are determined to rise to the challenge and find new ways to ensure thatour residents enjoy the best opportunities in life. Working at Haringey gives you the opportunity to play a part in meeting those ambitions on behalf of everyone who calls the borough their home.

About the role

Are you a dedicated and dynamic professional with a passion for making a difference? The Haringey Housing First team is actively seeking three Housing First Workers to form an integral part of a new Housing First team in the borough. In this position, you will provide essential, personalised, and trauma-informed support to individuals with histories of rough sleeping and potentially complex support needs, aligning with Housing First Principles.

As a Housing First Worker, you will be a key player in pulling together the necessary support for individuals in their journey towards independent living. Leading on identifying and accessing crucial support services, you will work closely with clients to clarify goals, offer personalised support, and address potentially complex needs arising from their histories of rough sleeping. Your role involves maintaining accurate records on our case management system, liaising with external agencies, and staying abreast of housing legislation tailored to the unique challenges faced by individuals with histories of rough sleeping. Additionally, you will perform robust assessments of referrals to ensure service eligibility, actively participate in team meetings, adhere to safeguarding procedures, and engage in proactive self-evaluation.

About you

We are seeking individuals with effective communication skills, a profound understanding of the challenges faced by those with histories of rough sleeping, and experience in assessing individual needs with potentially complex support requirements. Your confidence in identifying the support people need and how to access it will be crucial in shaping the success of our new Housing First team. Your commitment to compliance with guidelines, promoting Equal Opportunities policies, IT proficiency, and flexibility will be invaluable assets to our dynamic team. If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact, Haringey invites dedicated professionals to contribute to our mission.

At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicity and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community.
