Central is currently recruiting for a Specialist Housing First Worker, to work in the Islington area. The service supports people with histories of homelessness and who have experienced multiple disadvantages, into independent and stable accommodation.
The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working from Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1-2 months, with the possibility of extension. The pay rate is £14.82 per hour, with £1.79 holiday pay, totalling £16.61 per hour.
In this position, you will be required to:
- Hold a caseload of 7-8 key clients and carry out regular key working sessions resulting in agreed SMART support plans which are reviewed regularly.
- Complete comprehensive and high quality risk assessment and risk management plans
- Work in partnership with other relevant agencies and the clients in order that needs are assessed and are met,
- Promote activity that supports recovery including social activities, exercise, healthy eating and participation in mutual aid groups.
- Operate in a recovery-focused approach including using coaching and motivational interview techniques
- Work with clients to identify activities that they would like to take part in to prepare them for independence and move through.
- Take part in running activities or small groups in response to identified client needs or as part of a project wide programme of group work.
- Support clients that are ready to move into work, education or training by assisting them to access suitable courses or placements.
Please note, this role involves lone working.

- Experience of working effectively with partner agencies and developing relationships across a wide range of networks and local services to ensure clients receive wrap around support.
- A good understanding of the core principals of the Housing First model and can apply the approach.
- To ability to be analytical in approach, respond calmly to crisis and deal promptly, effectively and safely to complex and challenging situations.
- The sensitivity and flexibility to find ways to work with clients who may be mistrustful and have a low level of engagement with services.
- Experience of providing intensive outreach support
- The ability to work flexibly, creatively and in a solution focussed way

Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS registered on the DBS update service or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
