This is a full-time position with a rate negotiable based on candidate experience. This role offers remote working, however Court attendance is mandatory.
Applicants must be an admitted Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Conducting case work in all levels of court, issuing and defending proceedings on behalf of the Council
- Developing and maintaining an expert knowledge of the law and practice in relation to housing and community safetty issues, providing expert legal advice
- Representing the Council in Court hearings undertaking own advocacy, and in meetings with other authorities
- Assisting the Senior Lawyer, Principal Lawyer and Head of Legal in identifying the training needs of clients, and maintaining key relationships with Elected members, external firms and all relevant partner organisations
- To be responsible for the promotion and implementation of all of the Council’s policies and procedures including equality and diversity, health and safety, security and use of personal data
