Form of workThe position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience for this position.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of property law and experience in the Local Government Sector
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting a busy Commercial Property team by being responsible for autonomously dealing with their own mixed caseload
- Making a positive contribution to the delivery of the service, this will include working flexibly and positively to achieve the objectives of the council
- Managing and leading staff to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery, including developing and improving staff capability
- Managing a customer focused service and the effective use of resources
- Ensuring that the council’s overall vision, values and ethos are central to the requirements of the service
- Supporting effective working relationships and acting as an ambassador and advocate with external organisations
- Keeping up to date with developments in service delivery and best practice to ensure the service performs effectively and to the highest standards
- Providing high level specialist and proactive legal advice to the Council, its Cabinet, Committee members and senior officers and external clients on all issues arising, including property and related environment, planning, and contractual matters
- Supervising and advising on residential and commercial projects
- Advising on and draft complex agreements relating to Commercial Property and Regeneration transactions
- Advising and if appropriate represent the Council at any relevant inquiry or tribunal
- Advising on the Council's powers and it's decision-making process and ensure the legality of its decision making
Experience required (Desirable):
- Substantial experience in a similar role
Working hours:
- 37 hours per week
- Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
