We are looking for an HR Apprentice to join our HR Office at House of Lords. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking to gain exposure across multiple aspects of HR including Learning and Organisational Development, Recruitment, and HR Business Partnering and Advisory by supporting them with their daily tasks and project work.
While gaining this hands-on experience, you will also undertake an apprenticeship in HR Support which will lead to a recognised qualification.
This is an opportunity to work on a hybrid basis where you will be able to work 3 days from home and 2 days onsite at Parliament! This is an exciting position for someone who is keen to develop their skills and knowledge within HR and who enjoys working in a varied, fast-paced environment.
You’ll be accountable for –
- Providing administrative support within the HR Office by supporting projects and workstreams to achieve our People Strategy.
- Supporting on business-as-usual tasks such as recruitment, onboarding, training events, induction support and some aspects of payroll.
- Ensuring accurate and relevant HR data is recorded in the correct databases – for example, employee changes or training records.
- Responding to enquiries by managing team inboxes and phone lines.
- Drafting documentation which could include contractual letters, training materials, invites to training sessions for example.

- Effective team working skills, with an ability to show flexibility towards supporting the work of different teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information in a clear, engaging way.
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload to achieve deadlines, objectives and conflicting priorities.
- Ability to work with data and complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience in using MS Office to complete a range of tasks effectively and with the ability to learn new systems and processes.
