HR Manager

 

Full time, 1 Year Fixed Term Contract 

 

35 hours – Monday – Friday

 

Salary circa £45,000

 

We are looking to appoint an experienced HR Manager to support the Foundation Director of People in the delivery of an efficient and effective HR support and advisory/ business partnering service. This is a one year fixed term contract which will be predominantly project focused, with the launch of web recruitment across the business and other people related projects. You will play an important role in driving change within Coventry School Foundation.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to support the team and assist the HR function in moving forward. The role is varied and rewarding. You’ll be a highly motivated HR Manager, flexible in your approach with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities. You will be confident and organised, with an ability to hold difficult conversations, and to make decisions quickly.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • To provide a responsive business partnering service to defined client groups, including management of employee relations, workforce planning and CPD.
  • To provide generalist HR advice and support on terms and conditions of employment and HR policies and procedures, with a view to resolving matters in line with CSF policies.
  • Line manage the HR Administrator.
  • Managing the maintenance of the HR inboxes, ensuring all queries are dealt with in timely fashion and the HR system ensuring all input is accurate and timely. 
  • Overseeing the Recruitment and Onboarding function with tasks such as; job adverts, shortlisting, interviewing, offer packs, pre-employment checks and all related administrations. 
  • Liaison with Finance in relation to complex payroll queries; providing an escalation point for transactional issues to the HR Administrators’.
  • Producing HR KPI reports and providing information to drive future policy and practices
  • Provide advice and guidance on occupational health referrals, absence management issues and return to work cases to Line Managers.
  • To contribute to the review and development of HR policies and procedures in accordance with the Policy Development Framework and within the legal framework of employment legislation.
  • Support with HR project work as required.

 

Personal Specification

  • Good standard of education and/or with a recognised HR qualification such as CIPD (Level 5); or significant equivalent experience and proven track record of performing to a high standard, leading an HR function, ideally in a Foundation or other educational establishment.
  • Evidence of a real passion for HR demonstrated by continuous professional development is desirable.
  • Good understanding of and experience in all aspects of HR including operational knowledge of current employment law.
  • Proven track record of developing, implementing and managing policy, systems and procedures so that the highest standards and controls are achieved and maintained across multiple teams and sites.
  • Experience and ability of working collaboratively cross-functionally with others, at all levels, developing strong networks and relationships using excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate, persuade and influence at organisational and individual level.
  • Experience of managing complex change and development.
  • Experience and proven ability to work positively and effectively with trade unions.
  • Proven competence in managing employment cases (e.g. conduct, grievance, performance/capability, sickness absence, restructuring).
  • Experience of managing difficult and challenging conversations remaining assertive and professional, compassionate and empathetic.
  • Strong planning, organisational and project management skills.
  • Strong computer and technical skills including excellent MS Office knowledge, and proficiency in iTrent or similar integrated payroll and HR platform; working knowledge of iSams also desired but not essential.
  • Experience of manipulating and interpreting data, creating reports and using insight to raise standards and enhance performance.
  • Ability to work with external agencies and organisations to enhance HR provision.
  • Good knowledge and experience of inspection frameworks and compliance; thorough knowledge of Safer Recruitment, SCR and GDPR
