HR & Payroll Assistant

£28,000 rising to £30,000 after successful completion of probationary period.
*Hybrid working offered after completion of probationary period = 1 x day per week from home and possibly 2 x days after 1 year.
The HR and Payroll Assistant role is a HR generalist role and experience of working within a manufacturing and Unionised setting is desired.
Duties:
- Assisting the Head of HR with the process of recruitment including vetting candidates, assisting with interview preparation and issuing employment contracts, offer letters and induction packs. (10%)
- Supporting internal and external enquiries and requests related to the HR department and supporting departmental Managers in Disciplinary meetings as a note taker. (10%)
- Compiling and maintaining paper, digital and employee records, including holiday and sickness leave. (10%)
- Processing monthly payroll and assisting with the documentation of employee compensation and benefits (20%)
- Supporting HR-related training programmes, workshops, and seminars (10%)
- Entering employee data into HRIS system (10%
- Co-ordinating the logistics for new hire orientations (10%
- Compiling reports on general HR activities to include holiday collation, sickness reports and AD Hoc reporting. (10%)
- Assisting the Head of HR with the administration for the HR Strategy. (10%)
Required:
- Knowledge of UK Employment law and working within an HR department.
- Strong Administration skills and must have the ability to work with confidential information.
- Must understand the importance of GDPR within the HR Function.
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Ability to be highly observant and analytical
- Good telephone manner
- Computer literate including knowledge of Microsoft office, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Willing to learn and ability to use your own initiative
- Effective organisation and time management skills
