Barchester’s people services team have a rare opportunity for a HR Policy and Continuous Improvement Specialist to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract. In this vital position you will drive the Continuous Improvement of people services, and deliver a range of complex and strategic projects. You will ensure that all of Barchester’s policies and procedures are compliant with employment law, and are aligned with our ethos as an employer of choice. You will be relied upon as a trusted adviser to the People Services Director and Head of HR Operations in all areas of employment law and wider best practice.
We are looking for a candidate who will be able to work collaboratively, and provide valuable input to the overall people strategy to enhance both customer and colleague experience.
This is a remote position, with regular travel to Inverness, as well as some travel across the UK.
Required experience and qualifications:
• CIPD qualification, ideally with some project management training
• HR generalist experience
• Experience of delivering process improvements
• In-depth working knowledge of all aspects of employment law
• Familiar with all core HR lifecycle management processes and best practice
• Experience of HR and People analytics, reporting and dashboards
Role and responsibilities:
• Help to shape the people plan and strategy for the business
• Review the effectiveness of people services processes
• Identify areas where significant change is required, and assist with building a strong case for change and funding
• Complete external benchmarking and review best practice to propose improvements
• Act as the custodian of best practice and advise the leadership team on opportunities to improve
• Produce insightful reports and analysis to support data driven decisions
• Provide strong project leadership management to drive significant projects
• Coach and develop project team members to ensure deliverables and timelines are met
• Stay abreast on all UK and Jersey employment law, flagging where policies and procedures are no longer compliant
• Build competence of the HR team to deliver policy changes successfully
• Provide subject matter expertise on employment law and policy application
• Ensure policies and procedures are inclusive, relevant, and easy to understand
