A key role within the Scottish Power Hydrogen Projects team focussing on the delivery of large-scale technical engineering / design improvement projects in support of SPERL's green hydrogen investment plan.
The Project Manager will take lead responsibility for the delivery of Hydrogen technical projects ensuring value to the business is maximised within acceptable risk parameters.
What you'll be doing
- Responsible for the delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering projects, ensuring the projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget
- Undertake line management responsibilities in accordance with business requirements
- Assist in the development of appropriate technical & commercial strategies alongside the project team
- Lead and provide input to all technical & commercial agreements and contracts to ensure Project risks are mitigated, ensure all key decisions are supported by sufficient technical & commercial due diligence and investigation and manage the production of design improvement and build specifications
- Lead and manage tender assessments of technical / performance improvement projects
- Liaise and coordinate with external suppliers and contractors to ensure delivery specifications are met & post contract quality & commercial reviews are delivered
- Manage interfaces between the main contractors (typically primary equipment, hydrogen plant, water supply, and electrical connections)
- Successfully resolve contractor claims & ensure the head of Hydrogen Projects is informed at all stages
- Manage and actively identify all critical risks, issues and impacts of the project specifically the adequate application of and adherence to both statutory and corporate health, safety and environmental requirement
- Create project recovery plans where Project Milestones are threatened & ensure the needed resources are in place & managed to achieve project timelines as per the plan
What you'll bring
- Degree qualification in relevant Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Professional Qualification preferred
- Experience in Project Management / Construction Management
- Experience and understanding of commercial contracts and negotiations
- Experience and detailed understanding of technical due diligence
- Ability to translate technical detail into commercial impact
- Health & Safety management skills
