We deliver around 1.3million loaves, every day of the week throughout the UK and Ireland, where we also make Mothers Pride and Ormo products.
We are 2,800 people working within 8 bakeries, 1 flour mill, and 2 regional distribution centres across the UK. Responsible for ensuring compliance to Master Cleaning Schedule, continuously improving the hygiene standards and ensuring safety, legal and central requirements are adhered to at all times.
* Train the Hygiene Operators in safe and effective cleaning according to the Work instructions
* Provide technical guidance and hands on support during plant shutdown cleans
* Provide support to the Technical Manager managing, developing and leading their team
Technical Competencies
* Understands the vital importance of quality. Adheres to standards at all times, highlighting issues and concerns as appropriate. Supports the Quality agenda, ensuring continued delivery of in specification products as monitored by PQE . This can encompass both start and end of life checks.
* Stakeholder in the site quality plan – supporting in the timely delivery of specific aspects of quality improvement projects. Supporting the overarching complaint reduction program – providing technical data and assisting in the complaint reduction activities .
* Preparation of samples for analysis – microbiological / chemical / Bread exam and supporting the site sampling protocols (air sampling etc). Ensures the day to day running of the MFSL program is adequate and ensures that the resultant information is escalated in a timely manner.
* Takes every opportunity to speak to team members about quality so it is part of everyday conversation. Administration of consumer complaints including risk assessment in submitting FB to PAS for analysis.
* Assisting the operator training when appropriate providing an independent audit and training resource for metal detection and other Critical Control Points. To work with, and training Operatives, Key Operatives and FLM’s on PQE assessments. Deputising where appropriate for the Technical Core.
* Assisting in operator training where appropriate. Takes responsibility for their own and others safety at all times and supports the promotion of a site safety culture.
* Checks and Audits: TOPs, Audits. Help Line Managers to check or assist so that all colleagues are trained in appropriate H&S requirements.
* Support the development of an environment of continuous improvement with safety focus across the site and share best practice across all sites. To contribute to the site safety action plans within their role and area of responsibility by identifying areas of concern and reporting in the right manner.
* Supporting the site management teams in the delivery and review of safety across the site actively participating in TOPS. Always promote safety first culture and ensure that safety is a daily discussion point with colleagues.
* Adheres to all compliance requirements. Escalates when compliance requirements are not met. Checks: Start Up Checks both Food Safety compliance and H&S. BQED completion and review. Date Coding Check Sheets. Audits:
* Liaise with auditors and participate in site audits. Carry out GMP and Hygiene audits of own work area. Adheres to all compliance processes in place and supports training for colleague’s full understanding.
* Back-checks all paperwork online in regards to process is completed in the correct manner at the right intervals during the set daily processes. Liaises with the quality team with any compliance issues as they arise and feeds back to the colleagues as appropriate.
* Takes corrective actions in line with standard processes in place and highlights to core management team for corrective actions/plans to be put in place. Undertakes routine-quality checks on company’s PQE system.
* Weigh products in line with average weight legislation. Maintains GMP and Hygiene standards within designated areas of work.
* Training to Food safety Level 2. Has good clarity of their own behaviours and changes behaviours to suit different professional situations. Is able to behave with confidence as needed.
* Checks and Audits: throughput, giveaway, downtime, quality, complaints, waste. Adheres to all standard trained processes in place at all time and support the development of processes within sites.
* Highlights any concerns within the manufacturing process in the right reporting manner to Core leaders. Active participant in the continuous improvement processes within the manufacturing environment to challenge performance.
* Attends meetings to discuss process improvements with relating improvements on the indicators shown above. Understands KPI’s and how their lines performance influences them.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Extensive knowledge of hygiene and cleaning within a food manufacturing environment. Relevant industry experience including experience of legal requirements (manual handling, safe systems, HACCP etc). Preparation of cleaning work instructions
* Good knowledge of pest control procedures. Good verbal, numerate and writing skills. Be able to work at heights using Ladders, scaffolding, scissor lifts etc. Full knowledge of COSHH and chemical usage and storage. Experience of carrying out training
Desirable
* Advanced food hygiene. Intermediate HACCP qualification. Baking knowledge and experience
