About the role as Immigration Manager:
Reporting to the Bidding Director, in this role you will work with the internal bid team to develop and drive the operational solutions for custodial and detention bids, in line with our client’s mission, vision and values. Your solutions will be based firmly on experience within the Immigration / IRC sector, and will be realistic, innovative and reflect best practice. The post-holder will work in a multi-disciplinary bid team to win new business within the immigration sector.
My client will consider candidates who have strong immigration sector operational experience (senior manager within an Immigration Removal Centre-IRC) with no Bid experience.
Main responsibilities of the Immigration Manager:
· Owning and contributing to key work streams as part of various bid processes, to develop the operational solution for custodial and detention bids.
· Contributing to bidding activity including attending kick-off meetings, proposal writing and bid reviews.
· Overseeing the development of policies, procedures and services e.g., security, safeguarding, admissions, etc
· Sharing best practice and highlighting key operational solutions from across immigration and detention sector.
· Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of how prisons / Immigration Removal Centres (IRC) work and of national standards.
· Anticipating risks and devising appropriate mitigation strategies.
· Promote and enable both internal and external partnership working.
· Work with suppliers to agree costs and other commercial arrangements.
· Using extensive prior operational experience, within an IRC environment, to suggest new and innovative operational strategies and solutions which embody our clients’ values: Caring, accountable, transparent and collaborative.
· Represent our client at dialogue sessions with the contract provider to ensure solutions are communicated effectively.
· Drafting of bid documentation, ensuring that the written element of the bid response meets the requirements and effectively conveys our client’s solution.
· Participating in and contributing to a culture of 'winning'. To actively support the Bid Team to perform at the highest level.
· Undertake such other duties as may be required by the Bid Team as part of the bid process.
Internal
You will work closely with members of the Bid Team, wider subject matter experts and liaise with external partners and Contractors who support our Bid process.
External
You’ll liaise with key contacts with the Ministry of Justice and Home Office including the procurement & operational teams.
You will work with various supply chain partners and engage with local communities.
Skills and Experience required:
· Extensive prior operational experience within an IRC / Immigration environment
· Self-sufficient, proactive and ready for the next challenge; a forward thinker and team player; proven ability to work under pressure, independently and as part of a wider team.
· Proven ability to meet high standards of written and oral communications with customers.
· Experience of engaging senior stakeholders and building strategic partnerships, ideally in the detention sector
· An understanding of complex budgets in a co-commissioning environment Appropriate attention to detail
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

· Extensive experience of developing and implementing robust governance, risk management and quality assurance systems, ideally in the criminal justice sector.
