About the opportunity:
Jacobs Nuclear is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver GBP7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.
Jacobs Nuclear provides the front end design and engineering capability across the PPP portfolio. Being part of the PPP Team offers a unique opportunity to drive change and innovation in engineering, safety and delivery solutions in one of the most complex industrial sites in the UK if not the world. We are looking for people who are passionate about developing themselves and in meeting new challenges.
We are currently looking for a Delivery Excellence Manager to join the team in either Birchwood or Cumbria. The main focus is on Engineering Delivery enabling the programme to deliver quicker and smarter and includes associated development and embedding of processes on to projects.
This role will appeal to individuals who are seeking an opportunity to lead the Engineering and Design transformation of a major UK organisation, driving value for taxpayers and developing innovative solutions which can be carried forward into other client organisations and sectors.
Some of your responsibilities:
  • Leading the Delivery Excellence team.
  • Ownership of the Annual Operating Plan for the team.
  • Aligning and working closely with individual stakeholders (projects, client, NDA, ONR) to understand client, programme or project specific needs/risks.
  • Active support of functional groups within PPP Services, to align to Delivery Excellence improvements and associated benefits across project execution stages.
  • Via engineering design, build a safe Zero-Harm culture, delivering industry leading health, safety and wellbeing performance.
  • Ensuring project excellence, in terms of supporting project delivery within final business case committed values, with no resubmission of a business case.
  • Active support of a flourishing workforce of people, creating long term personal development and regular new employment opportunities within the partnership and supply chain, ensuring that specific job role training is provided.

Here's What You'll Need:
  • Excellent understanding of engineering and associated interfacing/alignment with non-engineering disciplines
  • Ability to think on your feet/outside the box, including completer-finisher traits
  • Appreciation of detailed engineering work processes and quality management/ assurance requirements
  • Experience in and appreciation of digital project execution tools and data flows
  • Attention to detail and good technical skills
  • Experience in collaborative business relationships and stakeholder engagement/influencing
  • Ability to show flexibility of approach in dealing with team colleagues and stakeholders
