Job Overview
Join this expansive operation of over 1,000 stores across the UK, Europe, the US, and Asia. They boast a significant property portfolio comprising both freehold and leasehold properties. In a rapidly evolving retail environment, the role in managing and strategically developing their property assets will be key to the continued success and growth of the business.
Your Role as Real Estate Legal Counsel
In this position, you will be the driving force behind the legal aspects of our property portfolio. Reporting directly to the Head of Real Estate - Legal, you will work alongside senior executives, including the Head of Acquisitions. The legal team includes the Head of Real Estate - Legal and a Legal Assistant, who is a vital link to both the Property Legal Team and the broader Legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage contentious and non-contentious Real Estate matters.
Oversee diverse property transactions, including acquisitions and lease agreements.
Undertake asset management, focusing on lease renewals under various legal frameworks.
Handle property litigation in collaboration with external law firms.
Provide expert legal advice on property-related acquisitions and issues.
Balance in-house and external legal responsibilities, including international matters.
Engage in occasional travel to our London office.
Qualifications:
UK qualified Solicitor (England and Wales) or Chartered Legal Executive.
Candidates with NQ-7 years PQE are encouraged to apply; those with more experience are also welcome.
Experience in both private practice and in-house roles is highly valued.
Strong expertise in Landlord and Tenant matters.
Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, challenging work environment.
