£33,143 per annum

Are you looking for a place to belong and help others find their way home? We’re looking for a dedicated and motivated Income Officer to help make a difference every single day.

The role:

In this role you will have regular, prompt, and clear communication with customers regarding their rent accounts, ensuring that customers have sufficient, accessible and appropriate ways to pay their rent, and resolve queries on first point of contact

Although not an exhaustive list, key responsibilities include:

·       Proactively manage residents’ accounts, including recharges/sundry debts, shared ownership rent accounts and former tenant arrears, ensuring that residents know what to pay, when to pay and how to pay.

·       Encourage residents to sign up to direct debit and other payment methods, and issue All Pay cards, promoting a payment culture.

·       Minimise cases escalating to court or eviction stage through proactive and effective negotiation and mediation.

·       Visit residents within established timescales to assess circumstances and agree repayment schedules within the arrears recovery procedure.

·       Liaise with individual residents, Housing Benefit Offices and the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP) on rent and arrears.

·       Prepare and update information required for setting rents, liaising with the Finance team to rectify errors, trace mis-posted monies including payments kept in suspense.

·       Maintain appropriate systems and keep appropriate records as required, dealing with correspondence as required.

Depending on the role, we don’t always require relevant experience and via our Brighter Places University we offer training and mentoring to help you get the most out of your role.

For this role we are looking for individuals who have:

·       Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent with significant property inspection experience.

·       Income management experience and success in maximizing income/reducing rent arrears.

·       Experience of working with a range of different agencies or stakeholders and building relationships with them.

·       A good working knowledge of welfare benefits particularly in relation to social housing.

·       Ability to manage own time, and plan and prioritise workload.

·       Excellent IT skills incl. Microsoft Office packages.

Valid UK Driving License and ability to travel independently to visit customers and properties.
·       Motivated and determined to go the extra mile.

·       Positive and assertive.

·       Committed to resolving issues.
