About The Role
Team – Life Income Protection
Working Pattern - Home working however, may be required to go into a Vitality location ad hoc (Stockport, Bournemouth or London)
  • Solves complex problems, takes a new perspective on existing solutions
  • Degree level or equivalent and likely to have professional qualifications. Has specialist level knowledge gained through significant work experience in a relevant role.
What this role is all about:
Are you an expert in the Income Protection field? We are looking for a subject matter expert in this area who is self-motivated and has attention to detail.  You’ll have a strong understanding of compliance and be assessing Income Protection Claims in line with the industry best practice. As part of your role, you will support new team members when they join the team with mentoring and training. You will be an advocate for change as we are fast paced and may even participate in supporting testing to new processes and systems. Key Actions
  • Assess Income Protection claims. Attention to detail and compliance are key as you will be adhering to the industry leading claims practice. This will include obtaining medical information, financial information, and any other information relevant to the assessment of the risk on each claim; adhering to the relevant Service Level Agreement
  • Drafting and issuing claims decision letters and other claims related correspondence. This may include communications to Senior members of staff.
  • Liaise with the strategic underwriters, management, reinsurers, and other stakeholders to ensure the swift and correct outcome of a claim.
  • Support team members with best practice techniques, medical practice through knowledge sharing.
  • Follow internal client service practices which build rewarding relationships and enables exceptional client service
Essential Skills needed to fulfil this role:
  • A broad experience in assessing and managing IP claims as detailed above.
  • B./BSc. Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Psychology or Qualified Registered Nurse or other health sciences related degree considered appropriate
  • Experience of dealing directly and effectively with the FOS on claims related matters
  • Good experience of working with reinsurers. 
  • Confident in presenting ideas and training peers.
  • Intermediate skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and usual Office apps. 
  • CII claims qualification
  • A detailed knowledge of the UK insurance market and regulatory environment.
  • Experience in Dread disease and Life cover claims
