Swindon is part of the national Special Educational Needs Disability & Alternative Provision Change Programme, working with the Department for Education and external delivery partners to test 19 reforms following the green paper consultation in 2021. This is an exciting opportunity to support the testing of proposed reforms that will bring about a positive change for all in the SEND sector.

We now have an exciting opportunity for you to join as the Independent Chair of Swindon’s SENDi & AP Partnership Board.
Board frequency:
- The Board meets in person on a quarterly basis from 9:00am – 13:00pm.
What does the SENDi & AP Partnership Board do?
- To monitor the impact of work undertaken in the area, as well as the improvement of outcomes achieved by local children and young people with SEND
- To work together across services and providers towards improved outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
- To ensure that everyone is learning from the experiences of children, young people, their families and other practitioners to continually improve practice.
- To establish clear lines of accountability, and link strategic groups in order to embrace peer challenge and accountability.
Who makes up the panel?
The Board consists of a wide-ranging Partnership that includes: Swindon SEND Families Voice (SSFV); Swindon Ten to Eighteen Project (STEP); Swindon Borough Council (SBC); Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES), Wiltshire and Swindon (BSW) Integrated Care Board (ICB); Early Years Representatives, Schools, Colleges, and the voluntary sector.
What do we need from an Independent Chair?
The focus of this role is to provide strong chairing of the Board, insight and an independent challenge and scrutiny to the Board and its members to enable successful delivery of the SENDi & AP Strategy and other SEND improvement work across the Local Area.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
