About Imerys British Lithium
Imerys British Lithium (‘IBL’) represents a pioneering collaboration between Imerys and British Lithium, aimed at leading the charge in Europe's commercial production of battery-grade lithium carbonate. The Role
In this newly created role, the Industrial Project Manager, reporting to the Project Director, will be responsible for the engineering design & execution of the IBL lithium project. The role encompasses managing the project lifecycle from the pre-feasibility study through to construction and ensuring the plant's operational readiness by 2028.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Ensuring the highest standards of HS&E are managed in compliance with UK legislation and company policies across all project stages.
- Delivering each phase of the project in scope, budget, and quality with a strong focus on safety.
- Helping to define a project and contracts execution strategy. Managing all engineering companies and be accountable for all engineering deliverables, including capex estimations.
- Leading the engineering work, and providing support in terms of project management, and continuous improvement from the design of the pilot plant to the delivery of the full-scale project.
- Implementing project control mechanisms, maintaining close coordination with stakeholders, and managing the project's total capex effectively.
The Person
The is an exciting role that will suit a proven project / programme leader with a track record of delivering large scale Industrial Projects. It is essential that this person has experience within metals & mining, or other heavy processing industries, and possesses detailed knowledge of CDM regulations. It is also essential that this person has experience in the pre-feasibility and design feasibility study phases as well as execution, in both EPC or EPCM type situations.
- Demonstrated ability managing, with full accountability, large-scale Industrial Projects, with a minimum CAPEX of £50m, ideally within metals & mining or other heavy processing sectors.
- Comprehensive engineering knowledge across Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil disciplines, with a steadfast commitment to safety.
- Offers experience in managing Greenfield (new projects) and/or Brownfield (upgrades or modifications) projects.
- Knowledgeable in CDM regulations, international engineering contracts, procurement, and construction management.
- Strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate in international and multicultural settings.
Qualifications
- A degree in BEng, MEng, or equivalent in a related field.
- Project Management certification.
- Proven experience in the pre-feasibility and design feasibility study phases as well as project execution.

- This role is based in Cornwall and requires occasional business travel.
