About Directorate
The Assurance and Public Protection directorate ensures democratic accountability of council services. The directorate work together to monitor and ensure compliance and provide assurance of Barnet being an engaged and effective council that protects the public purse. They provide enforcement services that engage and protect residents and businesses to support a safer and healthier borough.
About the role
Joining the central Records and Information Management team, in this role you will ensure the council's information is effectively managed at every stage of the Information Management lifecycle. You will be a key point of contact within the team and provide high quality advice and guidance in relation to:
Freedom of information Act
Environmental information regulations
privacy and data protection
Transparency and open data
Records Management
Your day-to-day duties will be varied and include the handling of information requests and internal reviews, as well as providing advice and support in all aspects of data protection and Information Management including information sharing agreements, data protection impact assessments and incident investigations.
About you
The role requires someone with a high level of knowledge and experience in all aspects of Information Management. They will be able to interpret and apply records and Information Management legislation into local authority processes. We are looking for a friendly, proactive, and motivated individual who can work as part of a team to provide an effective and responsive Information Management service. The successful candidate must be capable of applying critical thinking in the management of cases and be able to adapt to changing priorities. The successful candidate will be experienced in handling complex casework and be able to effectively support the development of policies, procedures, and training materials, as well as actively encourage and communicate best practice.
