Our customer is a large Medical and Nursing business in the UK. Head office is based in Bristol, this opportunity is offering hybrid working.
Job Description
You will be responsible for the network infrastructure, core and azure server/service infrastructure, server/data security, data communications and telecommunications systems alongside an outsourced IT Service Support for WAN network provision. You will act as the escalation point for engineers and analysts and will identify and remedy root causes of Service downtime. The Infrastructure Engineer will assist and, in some cases, lead IT Management in Continual Service Improvement, automating or standardising Service outage responses and removing root causes of Service downtime.
Service Management
- Operate within the ITIL v3 framework and you will be expected to be familiar with and adopt the standard within your working practices.
- Assist in the creation and definition of new and replacement services under the direction of the Head of IT Operations and IT Director to add to the Service Portfolio. Ensure you have a comprehensive understanding of the IT Service Level Agreements so that you know the service levels of each IT Service.
Project work and Change Management
- Infrastructure projects are delivered within an Agile-based framework; operating weekly sprints and work allocation.
- Provide IT management with a regular update of your project work, progress and delivery time frames.
- Contribute to the maintenance, design and implementation of new segments of the companies Active Directory environment and suggest / design improvements.
Server Management (Operating System)
- Diagnose, repair and report on Practice server operating system faults raised by the service desk or by the Solarwinds monitoring systems.
- Maintain operation of the IT services as defined in the IT service level agreement.
- Coordinating the patching, service pack and firmware updates to servers and workstations.
- Responsible for the Group Anti-Virus protection. This includes server operating systems and desktop operating systems.
- All software updates to operating systems must be implemented through WSUS.
- Using both Veeam and Microsoft Data Protection Manager, you should ensure all servers and workstation data is backed up in line with the Service Level Agreement.
- Operating systems should be regularly monitored manually (in addition to the automated monitoring provided by Solarwinds) to ensure the highest level of performance is maintained from each server/operating system.
Physical Server and Server Environment Management
- Diagnose, repair and report on physical hardware faults on both server and operating system.
- Ensure regular physical inspections of hardware are carried out at our main sites.
- Ensuring the virtual host cluster is maintained in terms of operating system updates, and is performing optimally.
- Responsible for any virtual machines or services which are hosted in Microsoft Azure environment.
Web Hosting/Domain Naming Services
- Responsible for ensuring the up time of these web servers in consultation with the Software Development team whose applications run on these platforms and services. Responsible for management of DNS with our external supplier. Ensure domain names do not expire and renew or allow them to lapse with approval from Head of IT Services.
Workstations, Laptops and Printers
- Diagnose, repair and report on physical hardware faults and operating system faults escalated through the service desk and IT Engineers in your capacity as top tier support.
Storage Area Network
- Responsible for managing and maintaining the SAN to ensure operational stability and capacity planning.
- Responsible for managing the underlying Dell iSCSI switching fabric of the storage systems.

- MCSA / MCSE qualifications
- PDQ Deploy / Inventory, or relevant deployment/management utilities
- Cisco Meraki experience
- CCNA qualified
- Familiar with CIS20 controls and the NIST framework
What's on Offer
Salary between £48,000 - £55,000
