**The Opportunity:**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our IT hardware systems, playing a crucial role in maintaining our infrastructure to meet our Service Level Agreements.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage physical server and storage infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Proactively monitor and analyse internal and external applications and associated infrastructure, resolving issues and escalating when necessary.
- Collaborate with other analysts to maintain information systems according to agreed priorities and standards.
- Keep documentation up-to-date and provide training and support to users as needed.
- Investigate user requirements for application and infrastructure changes, and design and implement appropriate solutions.
- Analyse systems regularly to ensure they can support future capacity and functionality requirements.
- Support IT development processes to deliver new and improved products and services.
- Liaise with 1st and 2nd line teams, application support, developers, product managers, suppliers, and other analysts to ensure the smooth functioning of my clients IT infrastructure.
**About You:**
- Extensive proven experience in a technical support and implementation role, with demonstrated experience providing 3rd line support.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to determine appropriate solutions to complex problems.
- Exposure to Open Source, Containerisation, and DevOps methodologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins).
- Proficiency in Linux OS maintenance, including software rollout procedures and backup software management (RedHat Family and/or Ubuntu).
- In-depth experience in technical support across varying hardware and software platforms.
- Experience providing helpdesk-style technical support to internal and/or external users.
- Ability to understand user requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Proficiency in varied Windows and Linux operating systems administration.
- Strong networking skills, including LAN/WAN and Internet, with a solid understanding of TCP/IP.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, QEMU, and Xen.
