Infrastructure Strategy and Solutions Engineer
Full-time, 12 Month fixed-term contract
Remote role with occasional travel to our Bristol Support Centre
The Role
This position is within the Infrastructure Strategy and Solutions Team, who are primarily tasked with designing and implementing solutions to support key initiatives outlined by the business strategy as well as develop and maintain the existing core IT Infrastructure.
The Infrastructure Engineer’s role is to maintain and assist in the development of the Bupa infrastructure to ensure
the stable operation of the organisation’s IT Systems and delivery of IT Services.
You will be responsible for the network infrastructure, core and azure server/service infrastructure, server/data security, data communications and telecommunications systems alongside Bupa’s outsourced IT Service Support for WAN network provision.
You will act as the escalation point for junior engineers and analysts and will identify and remedy root causes of Service downtime.
You will assist and, in some cases, lead IT Management in Continual Service Improvement, automating or standardising Service outage responses and removing root causes of Service downtime.
You will also provide an escalation point to the Infrastructure Operations Team who manage the 3rd/4th line BAU workstreams and who support the IT teams as well as assisting with the deployment of any projects that have been initiated or designed by the Infrastructure Strategy and Solutions Team.

• VMWare ESXi (good working knowledge)
• Cisco, Meraki, Dell and HP Procurve managed Layer 2/2+ switching (good working knowledge)
• Dell and HP Server Hardware (incl. iDrac and iLO) (expert)
• Microsoft Office 365
• Microsoft Hyper-V experience
• Veeam Backup & Replication
• Application Patching and Vulnerability Management
Desirable:
• Microsoft Azure and Azure AD experience (highly desirable)
• Powershell Scripting (highly desirable)
• Website and domain management (highly desirable)
• Microsoft SharePoint (good working knowledge)
• iSCSI Dell Equalogic SAN’s
• Microsoft Exchange 2016/Online
• Microsoft SQL Server
• Microsoft InTune/Endpoint Management experience
• Microsoft Defender ATP experience
• Microsoft Azure Information Protection experience
• MCSA / MCSE qualifications
• Solarwinds configuration and management
• PDQ Deploy / Inventory, or relevant deployment/management utilities
• CCNA qualified or similar working experience (desirable)
• Familiar with CIS20 controls and the NIST framework (awareness of; not necessarily working knowledge)
