Instrumentation Technician
Canvey Island Terminal
Permanent – Full time – On site
£36,000 - £44,000 + London Weighting allowance
About us:
Calor's Canvey Terminal is undergoing a complete transformation, with millions invested to modernize and create a more efficient facility. This exciting journey is shared with our dedicated existing team and new members. As the largest facility in the UK for importing and exporting refrigerated propane, operating as an Upper Tier COMAH site, our operations include loading and unloading LPG cargo from ships, managing refrigerated LPG storage, and exporting high-pressure LPG by pipeline and road tankers.
About the job:
Calor is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities by performing detailed job planning for maintenance and repair activities. You'll conduct preventive, corrective, and diagnostic maintenance on instrumentation and control systems, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and testing various types of control instruments and systems. Additionally, you'll assist in the installation and retrofitting of control instruments.
Working as part of our Operations Team, you will ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures while inputting data into the Calor work management system. You'll also be responsible for maintaining safety, fire, and gas equipment and assisting in the calibration and testing of plant vibration monitoring and shutdown systems.
We value transferable skills such as experience with PLCs, RTUs, detection equipment, pressure gauges, and rotating machinery.
You should have completed an apprenticeship (or other recognized training scheme) and hold a BTEC National Certificate (or equivalent City & Guilds NVQ/SVQ Level 3) in an Instrumentation, Control Systems, or related discipline.
Experience in industries such as Oil & Gas, COMAH Sites or Terminals, broader utilities, military, or aviation is highly desirable.
Working in hazardous areas requires a strong knowledge of health and safety practices. Electrical experience, such as EWR (Wiring regulations), would be beneficial. An in-date CompEx certificate is desirable, but we can consider putting you through the certification process if necessary.
What we can offer:
- London Weighting Allowance
- Private medical
- 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Retail discounts and more!
