Where you fit in

Reports to the ICE Lead within Engineering and Maintenance team and is part of the team that provides all Electrical and PACO / Instrumentation and Control engineering and maintenance services to the UK Upstream operated assets (SOV). Works within a multi-disciplinary team and can adapt to the natural team’s approach. Qualified applicants will provide direct support to operational assets. While some project experience may be useful the successful candidate will have a proven track record in supporting operational assets.

The purpose of the position is to provide technical expertise supporting of all activities related to PACO / Instrumentation and Control. You will focus on asset integrity and reliability, in line with PACO long term strategies and the Facility strategies / Roadmaps. Provide support to the team lead in managing all central maintenance contracts. You will also keep a very strong functional connection to TAO and SBO Shell's remote Technical Assistance teams. You will either have a Chartered Engineer status or be pursuing it. You will be Technical Authority and significant experience in providing Technical Assurance. You will have a recognised FS Eng qualification (TUV or similar).

What’s the role?

Employ adaptive thinking to provide technical solutions to the Operated Facilities with complex systems to provide best technical and economically robust solutions. Responsible for daily surveillance taking appropriate actions using available tools. Responsible for providing technical expertise to allow the TAO team to scope corrective and preventative maintenance. Responsible for reviewing and approving equipment repair / spares technical specification ensuring quality and cost efficiencies. An Instrumentation and Control Engineer should have expertise in field instrumentation, distributed control systems (DCS), fire and gas, and operational technology security (OT).

Responsible for start-up requirements and review of Pre-Commissioning procedures for new and existing equipment. Assure a plan is in place to maximise equipment availability. Review and facilitation of MoC where required. Support of long term strategic scopes through Fit 4 / Managing Threats and Opportunities (MTO)

What we need from you

You must have:

  • Strong and visible Safety Leadership behaviours.
  • Functional Safety Certification (FS Eng or FS Tech)
  • Technical Authority or significant experience in providing Technical Assurance
  • Demonstrated track record of collaborative behaviours and strong influencing skills in delivering safe business outcomes
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Courage to stand up for personal convictions and deliver enterprise first outcomes
  • Be proactive in your own talent management and capability development
