Job description

Salary: Circa £45,000
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Head Office - West Didsbury

To deliver effective insurance solutions for the Group across our asset base valued at ~£4.5billion, and to be accountable for overseeing effective claims management, recording and reporting any related risk activity in line with regulatory, insurance and best practice requirements.
What you’ll be doing
  • Delivering an effective insurance service that meets the needs of the business, and aligning the insurance provision to reflect changes in our operating environment.
  • Working with the business to manage insurance risk and minimise losses – across property, fleet, personal injury and cyber insurance provision.
  • Managing relationships with insurance brokers on an ongoing basis
  • Managing the procurement of, and subsequent management of suitable insurance contracts for the business – both in terms of annual renewals and broader tenders.
  • Establish processes to analyse information on insurance activity for example, activity by geographical area or by claim type to support risk management and loss reduction.
  • Writing reports for management and committees to support the sharing of information, the management of risk and strategic decision making with respect to insurance arrangements.
  • Ensuring effective administration of systems for recording information about insurance activity including claims, payments made and under excess reporting.
  • Providing advice to the wider business on insurance arrangements including the progression of claims, including liaising with the insurer.
  • Providing cost information to support the annual budget cycle, and for recharges to leaseholders and shared owners
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to the business by keeping abreast of changes in the insurance market.

What you’ll need
  • Professional qualification in a relevant field e.g. insurance or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Experience of delivering high levels of customer service.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of the insurance market within the social housing sector.
  • Experience of procuring and managing insurance contracts.
  • Experience of working with and influencing stakeholders.
  • Experience of interpreting data to develop business systems and deliver process improvement.
  • Commercial acumen.
  • A demonstrable methodical approach to work, with sound organisational skills, within a team environment but also an ability to work on your own.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • IT skills particularly experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and database systems.
