Job description

The UK’s largest sustainable business media brand is seeking a technically skilled and ambitious Intelligence Editor to join our mission of accelerating corporate climate action through industry-leading digital content and live events.

This newly created role of Intelligence Editor will manage and deliver all bespoke content and digital events for the brand, acting as content lead in our relationships with commercial partners. This includes the planning, research and development of in-dept insight reports, practical and technical business guides, sustainability case studies, benchmarking surveys and reports, along with the speaker recruitment and chairing of topical webinars and online masterclasses. The Intelligence Editor will shape content which is a “win-win” for edie’s audience and sponsors alike and deliver positive impacts for people and the planet.  

 

Full time: 35 hours Monday to Friday, Hybrid working   

Office: East Grinstead – walking distance to the station, onsite parking

Person specification 

 

Reporting directly into the Publisher, edie’s Intelligence Editor will be passionate about creating industry-leading, purpose-driven content which drives audience growth and engagement. They will have an excellent eye for detail and a natural affinity for producing in-depth surveys, reports and analyses across a diverse range of topics for a business audience.   

  

They will be equally passionate about connecting with people face-to-face utilising strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively chair high-level panel discussions and deliver meaningful experiences for our sponsors and audience.   

  

Our ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of journalism and experience working on a busy editorial desk. They will understand what makes content engaging for a particular audience and have experience in building a loyal, returning audience through compelling digital content and live events. They will also be practiced in client management with the ability to work constructively with commercial partners and sponsors to deliver engaging content.  

  

Ideally, they will be:  

  • An excellent writer, interviewer and researcher   
  • Proactive, organised and able to work independently as well as part of a team  
  • Confident attending events and acting as a brand ambassador   
  • Skilled in client management  
  • A great communicator and effective networker   
  • Previous editing experience is essential; NCTJ qualification is desirable   
  • Strong project management skills and able to deliver and maintain a continually evolving digital content strategy in partnership with commercial sponsors  
  • An understanding of and passion for sustainability and climate action is not essential, though would be highly beneficial  
  • Proficient in using a modern CMS (WordPress) as well as common word processing, spreadsheet, survey (MS Forms) and presentation (Microsoft/Google) applications
