Interim Director of SOX Compliance

Robert Walters ~ Interim Director of SOX Compliance ~ 3-6 months contract ~ West Midlands

Our client is looking for an Interim Director of Audit, SOX and Accounting Policy to oversee all aspects of internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, and developing and maintaining accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS standards.

Location: West Midlands (3 days a week)
Contract length: 3-6 months
Contract hours: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £800 - £1000 per day

Key Responsibilities of the Interim Director of Audit and SOX

• Review audit findings and recommendations and collaborate with management to develop action plans for addressing any identified deficiencies
• Manage the annual internal audit program, including risk assessment, audit planning, and audit fieldwork
• Ensure that key internal controls are designed and operating effectively to mitigate financial reporting risk
• Lead the SOX compliance program, including scoping, risk assessment, control documentation, testing, and remediation
• Manage the US PCAOB Audit (including Sox), UK Statutory Audits and coordination of overseas audits with overseas accountants
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in compliance with US and UK GAAP standards

Key Essentials of the Interim Director of Audit and SOX

• Chartered Accountant (e.g., ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
• Extensive experience in internal audit, external audit, SOX compliance, or accounting policy roles, preferably in a publicly traded company environment
• In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and SOX requirements
• Experience in building SOX programs and processes
