Interim Finance Director

Our client, a leading fleets services & energy related business in Birmingham, is looking for an immediately available Interim Finance Director to support the company through the next exciting phase of its growth journey. This business has a long history of success in its sector that has been underpinned by the development of a broad service offering which continues to grow. Due to this continued growth, there is a need to appoint an experienced interim FD to support and guide the business through this growth. There is the potential for this role to become permanent for the right person.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage day-to-day financial operations
• Maintain and improve strong finance governance and financial control environment
• Challenge commercial business areas to maximise opportunities and ensure accountability
• Provide commercial & strategic support and decision-making across the business
• Ensure the finance reporting is best in class, fully compliant and provides meaningful commentary for senior management

Experience Includes:

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
• Experience in logistics, energy, utilities or commercial banking desirable
• Technically very strong but also strong commercial awareness
• Of an inquisitive nature to ensure you can identify areas of improvement and offer solutions
• Confident and clear communicator with an ability to support senior management
• Ability and keenness to mentor and develop people

The successful candidate will be an immediately available, qualified accountant with experience supporting senior management in an SME environment as an FD, head of Finance or Financial Controller, as this is a very hands-on role with only a small finance team in place. You will be a hands-on and approachable finance team player, with a dedication to ensuring the finance function is working at its best. You will be an ambitious and driven self-starter, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. This role is primarily office-based, would suit either an experienced FD or a strong Financial Controller / Head of Finance looking for their first FD role, and could become permanent for the right candidate.
