Interim Financial Accountant

We are on the hunt for an Interim Financial Accountant to join a thriving charity based in Southampton. This is a temporary role with the opportunity for the role to become permanent. As Interim Financial Accountant, you will drive the change and improvement of key processes, ensuring the finances of the organisation are well-managed and efficient.
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for:

• Offering strategic financial guidance and support throughout the organisation
• Leading the financial accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely completion of processes (daily, monthly, annual)
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensuring Fixed Asset Registers are reconciled to the finance system
• Correctly allocating Restricted Funds as received
• Processing the payroll journals for employing entities
• Making sure VAT returns are completed in a timely and accurate manner
• Conducting analysis and reporting to drive informed decision-making
• Overseeing the continuous improvement of finance processes

What you will need:

• Immediate availability
• To be a qualified accountant – ACCA / CIMA / ACA
• Previous experience in a similar role, such as Financial Accountant /
• A strong understanding of Excel (including Vlookups and pivot tables)
• Experience in the charity sector is desirable but not essential
