Experience Required:

• In-depth knowledge of VAT laws and regulations, demonstrating the ability to apply them effectively.
• Advantageous experience in Insurance Premium Tax and Climate Change Levy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• These key duties aim to highlight the strategic and advisory nature of the role, emphasising the importance of collaboration, stakeholder management, and proactive engagement with complex VAT issues.

Key Duties:

VAT Advisory:

• Provide expert VAT advice across various business areas, including energy retail, Insurance Premium Tax, services, trading, and Climate Change Levy.
• Interpret complex VAT laws and regulations and apply them effectively to ensure compliance.
• Stakeholder Liaison:
• Support business units in engaging with different stakeholders to address VAT-related issues.
• Collaborate with internal teams to understand business operations and provide tailored VAT advice.

Controversy Management:

• Analyse and address controversy issues related to VAT.
• Business Unit Support:
• Assist business units in understanding and implementing Indirect Tax strategies.
• Provide guidance on Indirect Tax implications for specific projects and transactions.
• Legal Team Collaboration:
• Liaise with the legal team to align VAT advice with legal considerations in contracts.
• Provide input on Indirect Tax implications in contracts and collaborate on solutions to address legal and tax concerns.

Contract Review:

• Review contracts for potential Indirect Tax implications and risks.
• Work closely with the legal team to ensure that contracts are structured to optimise VAT outcomes and comply with relevant regulations.
