This Intermediate Mechanical Engineer involves working as part of a multi-discipline, highly interactive and coordinated team focused on projects including semiconductor manufacturing, data centre facilities, and other state of the art manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with strong communication skills. They will exhibit a passion and desire to apply their professional experience and knowledge in a team environment on technically challenging and professionally rewarding projects.
Based in Dublin on a Hybrid basis. 3 days in office 2 days from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform necessary engineering and design tasks to produce construction documents in conjunction with a team of engineers and designers.
- The Intermediate Mechanical Engineer shall be responsible for full system designs under the supervision of a Lead Engineer on large projects and under their own initiative on smaller projects reporting to their Manager or Project Manager.
- Coordinate and collaborate real time with other disciplines such as electrical, structural, architectural and process to develop designs.
- Follow quality and have an understanding of the CAD/BIM standards.
- Provide technical support and assistance to Engineers and Technicians.
- Perform quality review checks for 2D/3D modelling and Mech/HVAC deliverables.
- Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
- Participate in design reviews and risk assessments.
- Assist in the generation of proposals, scopes, schedules and budgets for projects.
- Exercise judgment in developing plans or alternatives and work with teams to assure quality plans.
- Perform field activities such as observation of construction activities.
- Review construction submittals for conformance with the intent of contract and design documents.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to project engineers and designers on a project-by-project basis.
- Work towards site master planning, concept designs and preliminary through to construction engineering phases with other team members
- Keep on top of technology and industry trends and development.
- Assist in the continuous improvement of group’s systems, procedures, standards and knowledge management.
- Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
- Develop system sequences of operation and P&ID’s
Education and Experience
- Minimum qualification of bachelor’s degree in building services/Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years’ experience with industrial/commercial design
- Semiconductor experience preferable/but not a must, skill sets: wet and dry black utilities, calculations, specifications, detailing and sizing.
- Relevant engineering/design experience in industrial/advanced technology sector.
- Engineering/design experience in the Mech/HVAC systems
- Experience with start-up and commissioning will be an advantage
- Experience in equipment layout definition.
- Experience using 3D BIM environment.
