Job description

We're on the hunt for an experienced Internal Communications specialist to join our Brand and Communications team.

With a new firmwide growth strategy launched, and our Marketing & BD strategy signed off by the Board, this a great time to join our firm.

What's the team and role about?

Our Brand and Communications team raises the profile of Womble Bond Dickinson and ensures that our positioning is communicated consistently across all internal and external communication channels.

The Internal Communications Manager will set, deliver, manage, and measure the corporate and strategic aspects of our Internal Communications, to build pride and confidence in the firm amongst everyone who works here.

You'll work closely with senior leaders across the firm to showcase the quality of; our clients and the work we do; our people; the role we play in our communities; and our strategy and leadership.

Another critical stakeholder relationship will be with our HR team and our Internal HR Communications Executive, who manages our intranet (The Hub). You'll be expected to collaborate with them to ensure that different internal communication activities are well planned and coordinated.

What will you be doing?

Working alongside colleagues in the Brand and Communications team, you'll be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing Internal Communications strategies that build pride and confidence amongst everyone in the firm.
  • Working with our Managing Partner and Chair to ensure that our vision and strategy is properly communicated and embedded across the business, and that everyone is clear about the sort of firm we want to be and what we're doing to achieve it.
  • Planning and executing an integrated comms plan that includes town halls, webinars and other internal activities that facilitate transparent communications between leadership and our people.
  • Providing strategic counsel to senior leaders on effective internal communication approaches during times of critical events.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including HR, IT and Learning & Development to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with firm initiatives.
  • Working alongside our HR team to align and develop consistent, engaging Internal Communications and strategies on both a domestic and international level.
  • Creating, curating, and distributing engaging content through various channels such as our intranet, emails, newsletters, and video.
  • Measuring the effectiveness of our Internal Communications efforts through data analysis, surveys, and feedback, and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Researching and analysing Internal Communications trends, industry best practice and emerging. technologies to identify latest ideas and tools to continually improve our Internal Communications.
  • Support and promote key internal projects, WBD networks and products to consolidate messaging, and strengthen their impact through effective communications.
  • Work with and advise other functions across the firm to develop internal marketing campaigns and help ensure that all internal messages are aligned to reflect the firm's strategy, brand, values, and behaviours.

Who's this role right for?

To be successful in this role you'll need as a minimum:

  • A track record of challenging norms, delivering new initiatives, and exploring diverse communication channels.
  • Experience of collaborating to find and tell the stories that foster a sense of belonging and community within an organisation.
  • Experience of providing channels and platforms to showcase achievements, foster pride and instil confidence among employees.
  • Ability to connect organisational strategy with individual contributions, emphasising how work supports overall objectives.
  • Experience of working alongside senior leaders, coaching, and influencing Internal Communications approaches.
  • Proven track record in Internal Communications within the legal sector or other professional services.
  • Experience using a range of communications tools and packages.
