Job description

Brockenhurst College has an exciting opportunity for a full time, permanent,International Officerto join our International Team. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £29,004 to £30,923 per annum DOE.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

The successful applicant will be responsible for both the recruitment of international students from key overseas markets and for the pastoral support of those students once at the College.  Other duties commensurate with the position and salary will also be allocated as necessary.

Regular international travel is an expectation of the job, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable with lone-travel to overseas destinations for purposes such as meeting with agents, parents and potential students as well as representing the College at international education exhibitions. 

We are looking for a confident, reliable and proactive individual who operates brilliantly as part of a small team and alone.   You must be a good communicator and willing to be flexible within the role.  Occasional weekend work will also be required.

There is also a requirement to operate the out-of-hours emergency phone on a rota basis.

Responsibilities as our International Officer will include:

  • Working closely with the Senior International Officer and International Manager on strategic development and promotional activities with the aim to recruit suitably qualified international students and deliver on agreed recruitment targets
  • To travel and represent the College at education fairs and other marketing & student recruitment activities as well as professional groups, forums and committees as required.
  • To assist and coordinate visits by other College or International team staff
  • Producing timely and comprehensive visit reports and update the College record system following in-country meetings and appointments.
  • Contributing to the College’s student recruitment forecasting and to input to the development of marketing plans and regional briefing papers.To contribute to key account plans for new and existing agents so that they are linked to the department’s targets.
  • Working closely with both the International team and the academic teams to improve the student experience and to increase the uptake of offers. To keep informed of College as well as competitors new/amended programmes and, to provide accurate and up-to-date information to enquirers.
  • Contributing to the development of marketing & promotional material (printed and online) as well as social media by working closely with the International Manager, Senior International Officer and the Marketing team.
  • Managing and recording new enquiries, interviews, applications and offers and provide effective follow up with educational agents to convert applicants into students. To monitor performance and representation of educational agents.
  • Monitoring and providing feedback in market trends and the changing needs of international markets. To build and/or continue relationships with key partners and stakeholders like partner schools, embassies, the British Council and other influencers.
  • Contributing to the development of key admissions and recruitment documentations; for example, offer letters, educational agent agreements, partnership agreements

As our International Officer you’llideally have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification
  • A record of successful commercial experience in sales, business development and global partnerships
  • Successful business growth and sales skills with the ability to adapt technique to suit the market
  • Commercial outlook with understanding of sales target achievement
  • Proven relationship building skills with internal and external customers and the ability to adapt to differing scenarios and cultures
  • Delivery focused and committed to the development and growth of the international department
  • This role involves a moderate level of overseas travel. Flexibility is paramount.
