HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds.

HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

Venture Debt is a new investment capability being developed by HSBC AM following the creation of HSBC Innovation Banking.  The Venture Debt capability will form part of the AM Private Credit platform, a key growth area for HSBC Alternatives.

Initially the role holder will contribute towards the development and launch of a new Venture Debt fund.  This will involve supporting capital raising and representing Venture Debt in front of clients, promoting the Venture Debt capability to sales teams, and preparing fund or ad-hoc marketing documents. the role holder will also undertake the assessment and analysis of Venture Debt transactions for recommendation to the Investment Committee and the ongoing monitoring of the portfolio.

In this role you will:

• Support the capital raising for fund launches and present Venture Debt to clients and consultants. Advocate the Venture Debt capability to sales teams. Aid in the development of fund or ad-hoc marketing materials. 
• Contribute to screening and due diligence efforts on new transactions, including reviewing information memorandums and sales documentation, conducting third-party due diligence, and testing financial model assumptions
• Ensure that proposed transactions adhere to policy and investment restrictions. Monitor key performance indicators and the financial performance of all portfolio loans.
• Maintain communication with portfolio companies through sponsors and management teams, alongside HSBC Innovation banking when appropriate, to evaluate their financial needs, condition, and business opportunities and risks. 
• Represent the Venture Debt franchise in industry events and other forums to positively enhance AM's brand image.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

• Significant experience working within Venture Debt with a proven track record in business development, research and/or portfolio management is essential
• Prior working experience within Asset Management is crucial. Previous experience working with senior managers from various areas such as investment teams, product, sales, legal, and marketing is required for this position.
• A thorough comprehension of product strategy and development lifecycle, along with experience in overseeing intricate processes
• Investigational/analytical mindset. Ability to analyse processes to make improvements.
• Effective team player who can work harmoniously

This is a hybrid working role with the base location as London. The successful candidate will have to have the ability to commute to this location.
