As the Director of Information Technology, you will act as the lead for technology services and internal IT customer liaison for the Firm’s operations in Europe and Asia (which is currently Cambridge, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, Luxembourg, Munich, Paris and Singapore) . You will also direct the activities and manage performance of the team responsible for delivering direct technical support to firm employees located in these locations.
You will be the lead representative for our global IT organization across the region, ensuring effective communication of Firm-wide technology standards, strategy, policies and procedures and will act as a point of contact for Firm leadership in the region to gather requirements, understand regional business demands and ongoing technology issues requiring attention. Working with the CIO and peer leaders in the IT department, you will play a key role in contributing to the global IT strategy while ensuring any specific needs from the region are incorporated where appropriate.
You will partner with other Global Operations (GO! Team) leadership peers in the region to represent overall GO! Team strategy, provide technology leadership to the European and Asia GO! Team members and maintain excellence in delivery of support services to the Firm’s business.
What you will do:
- Liaise with lawyers and GO! Team leadership, to understand specific needs and issues related to technology in Europe & Asia . Work with IT leadership and the Firm’s Program Management Office to ensure regional needs are comprehended in budget and project portfolio processes;
- Communicate IT solutions, policy, processes and strategy to Europe and Asia leadership ensuring that practices align with Firm standards;
- Work with local technology vendors on delivery of services for the offices supported;
- Provide strong leadership, technical guidance and overall management and development of IT team members supporting offices in the region. Services provided include, support for desktop hardware and software, audio visual operations and local project management of technology deployments;
- Responsible for ensuring teams follow stated procedures to achieve operational and service excellence goals;
- Continually evaluate the Desktop Support team’s performance, needs of the offices and manage resources/scheduling effectively for the region to continue to adapt to Firm growth;
- Act as point of escalation and assist team with troubleshooting complex technical issues, problem management and coordinate involvement of engineering groups when necessary;
- Manage, evaluate and refine business processes to ensure accurate and timely support and problem resolution for our internal customers;
- Effectively deploy and manage enterprise resources, including equipment standards and purchases. ;
- Lead regional delivery of global technology projects and engages in formal project management where required;
- Conduct continuous review and refinement of the key performance indicators (KPI’s) and critical success factors (CSF’s) that teams must adhere to;
- Assume additional responsibility as required/requested.
Who you are:
- Minimum of 10+ years professional experience in IT leadership ideally gained in a professional services environment; including process and budget management together with managing a helpdesk/desktop support function;
- Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience;
- ITIL Foundations Certification;
- Proven experience communicating and providing support at an executive level in some capacity;
- Strong communicator who is comfortable communicating at all levels of management;
- Demonstrated ability to be a hands-on leader, with experience analyzing an issue and the proven ability, to prepare and/or provide a recommendation for resolution;
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards;
- Ability to professionally partner and communicate with multiple stakeholders while maintaining a calm and methodical approach especially under pressure;
- Proven ability to spearhead/manage end to end incident and problem resolution efforts that cross platforms, applications, infrastructure and organizational boundaries;
- Strong people management skills;
- Strong background in information technology including typical PC based applications and hardware, mobile devices and ideally detailed knowledge in a particular IT field;
- Experience in maintaining Information Technology standards, policies, processes, and procedures as it relates to managing our desktop environment;
- Experience in budget management;
- Experience in technology vendor negotiations, contract review and ongoing vendor management;
- Awareness of emerging technologies, their capabilities and an ability to determine business benefit and impact;
- Background in law firm specific technology and supporting IT operations in a law firm or professional services business would be ideal.
