IT Manager & Data Protection Officer

Ideal Software Solutions have an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT manager to join their friendly team, which is based in Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire. Our business specialises in developing mobile tablet and portal solutions. We have a world leading Face to Face Fundraising solution, as well as two new exciting mobile solutions for the Hydraulic repair and Windscreen replacement sectors.

The IT manager role:

• Ensuring operational availability of the production IT infrastructure
• Administering Microsoft SQL servers and IIS servers within Active Directory environment
• Maintaining security of our network, communications and data.
• Responding to issues from users at all levels of technical ability
• Carrying out customer compliance questionnaire requests, data protection responsibilities and documenting GDPR activities.
• There will be times out of hours infrastructure support is required but these times will be given back in lieu or overtime.
• Occasional visits to our off-site datacentre to perform hardware maintenance/upgrades

Essential skills:

• High degree of ownership in all matters within our IT infrastructure
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities
• Strong analytical skills with a progressive flair for problem solving and a tactful ability to operate autonomously in most situations
• Understanding of Microsoft SQL at an administration level.
• High level of experience and knowledge of VMWare (ESXI based)
• Understanding of networks and network management - including VPN configurations
• Ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner
• Able to develop clear and concise documentation including diagrams.

Useful Skills:

• MS SQL Data Analysing
• Understanding of Linux based OS
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, DevOps and Office 365
• Knowledge of server scripting languages like PowerShell, Batch Files and BASH

Microsoft IIS Server configuration for the company’s portal.

Microsoft SQL Server management (scripted upgrades, back-up, T-SQL jobs).

Data Analysis

Azure Active Directory and hosted Virtual Machines.

Office 365 (Exchange online; Teams; Sharepoint; OneDrive.)

Domain names management.

Microsoft Server 2003,2008, 2016 and 2019.

Active Directory and Group Policy.

SSL certificates for customer-facing servers.

Windows 10/11 laptops.

VPN connections for remote staff (OpenVPN and Draytek SSL client).

UbiquitiEdgeMax and DraytekVigor routers.

VMWareESXi 5.0 and 6.0+

Veeam back-up.

Disaster Recovery

Avaya Phone System (Office and remote management)

Debian Linux servers running Redis and Wordpress.

Bi-monthly BACS data download

Quarterly Royal Mail downloads

Weekly off-site back-up hard-drive rotation.

External SMTP provider (Postmarkapp.com).

Annually

Annual penetration testing.

Liaise with customers on Data Protection requirements.
