About the role
The IT Manager - Systems Accountant is a newly established position within the Booker IT team. In this role, the individual will oversee the delivery of the change and compliance program agenda across the Booker Group Finance teams. Additionally, they will play a crucial role in supporting and delivering effective, secure, and efficient systems.
Reporting to the IT Finance Team Manager, the new role involves steering the successful execution of our SAP system roadmap. This includes overseeing the end-to-end life cycle of projects with varying complexity and criticality. These initiatives span from supporting Finance reporting, ongoing departmental continuous improvement programs, and delivering new functionality that aligns with our Health/Safety/Legal, Customer Satisfaction, and Cash Profit agenda.
A key focus of this role will be to lead the implementation of new technologies aimed at driving greater segregation of duties compliance. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for implementing new controls to enhance our ICFR audit processes.
Applicants for this position should possess knowledge of SAP modules such as Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling (CO).
Strong analytical abilities are essential for configuring and optimising financial processes, while a profound understanding of financial reporting standards is necessary. Success in this role relies on effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Additionally, troubleshooting experience is valuable for upholding system integrity and ensuring smooth financial operations.
This role can be based in either our Eccles or Watford office, and is offered with a car allowance.
Role Responsibility
- Oversee the delivery of the change and compliance program across the finance teams
- Work proactively with stakeholders to improve processes and maximise system asset utilization.
- Work to deliver system improvements and projects to support the company\'s growth plans and customer satisfaction.
- Work to identify project issues that will or are impacting systems stability, availability, and functionality, and then work promptly and proactively to mitigate and resolve such issues.
- Work to reliably and efficiently produce timely and accurate project management documentation.
- Manage the allocation of internal and external IT development and testing resource.
You will need
- In-depth understanding of financial reporting standards to ensure compliance and precision in financial documentation.
- Strong investigative skills to identify and address discrepancies and anomalies in financial information.
- Demonstrated expertise in utilising SAP systems, with a focus on Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling (CO) modules.
- Building the appropriate business justification and benefits cases to support the change programme.
- Ability to translate the Finance team’s business requirements into simple and easy-to-use system processes.
