I am working with Sale High School to find them a Permanent IT Manager to join their supportive, welcoming team.

You will take ownership of the school's IT provision for the benefit of staff and pupils. You will manage two experienced IT Technicians and report directly to the Headteacher.

Important Details:

  • Salary is £41,418 - £44,428. Plus £1290 salary increase pending.
  • Band 9, Pts 33-36.
  • Full-time 36.25 hours per week.
  • 08:00 - 16:00 with flexibility to support school events such as parent's evenings.
  • The role is all year round.
  • Based at Sale High School in Trafford/South Manchester (M33 3JR).
  • Reporting to the Headteacher.
  • Autonomy and freedom to manage own workload.
  • Extensive school rebuild project starting 2025.

Key responsibilities of the IT Manager:

  • Fully manage the school's IT infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement an IT strategy aligned with the school's needs and technological advancements.
  • Manage IT support and services.
  • Lead IT infrastructure redevelopment during the school's rebuilding project.
  • Provide staff training and support to improve system use, enhance student learning, and reduce staff workload.

The IT Manager Must Have/Be:

  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
  • Professional qualification in IT or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years' technical IT experience.
  • Coaching experience.
  • Experience managing projects.
  • Understanding of networks, LAN, WAN, internet protocols, desktop computers, peripherals, software, and hardware.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, codes of practice, and legislation.
  • Experience with GDPR legislation.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Experience with procurement of IT products and services.
  • Strong end-user IT skills (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, databases).
  • Team management and leadership experience.
  • Fostering a customer-focused environment.
  • Innovative and adaptable, able to inspire confidence and lead others.
  • Ability to prioritise and handle competing deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical people.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented.
  • Ability to analyse data, develop plans, and think strategically.
  • Capable of performing physical tasks related to the role.
  • Calm under pressure, resilient, reliable, and committed.
  • Flexible and solution focused.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness to undertake training and commit to personal development.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a school to achieve the best outcomes for students.

The following are a bonus and not essential:

  • MCSE, ITIL or similar.
  • Experience with School Information Management Systems.
  • Experience in education.
  • Experience collaborating with senior leaders to integrate technology in teaching.
  • Experience managing a school website.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding, Child Protection, and E-Safety.
