Our client is a well-established holding company which aims to develop and nurture under performing and under commercialised manufacturing companies in the Northwest. Within the group there are a number of companies with one requiring a 2nd Line IT Support Engineer.
The main function of the IT Department is to ensure that the IT infrastructure is fit for purpose and fully functional across the group. There are supporting MSP's and vendors to call on but the main element of the role will be to provide ongoing IT Support Services across the group and to ensure that the IT Hardware and Software Systems remains in a stable condition, as well as becoming intractable with the wider organisation is critical in this role. Therefore, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital.
Responsibilities:
- Management of IT networks and infrastructure across the sites.
- Effective, efficient, and quality functionality working within the IT Department.
- Monitoring Key Performance Indicator results and implementing actions when necessary.
- Setting and implementing strategy to ensure the IT capability can meet with demands.
- Work with existing external IT support provider in resolving outstanding issues and monitor support requests by users bringing in preventative measures were appropriate.
- Implement IT induction and training programmes for new and existing users.
- Install and support hardware, including personal computers and peripherals.
- Record and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) as agreed with Chief Financial Officer.
- Follow agreed standards for installing operating systems and application software.
- Ensure all software is correctly licensed and legally compliant.
- Assist with the development and support of application software (supporting Access databases in SharePoint, and the ERP system EFACS).
- Support data networks, in conjunction with a third-party provider.
- Support mobile phone users in conjunction with a third-party provider.
- Support telephony systems, in conjunction with a third-party provider.
- Implement robust back up procedures for all servers across the group.
- Ensure recovery procedures are tested on a monthly basis.
- Ensuring the sites are fit for purpose and presented to an excellent, professional standard to accommodate growing business needs.
- Ad-hoc Infrastructure Project requirements including Door Access Controls, Alarms, CCTV.
- Responsible for updating Company Websites/LinkedIn/Company Socials on Marketing activity.
We are looking for someone will skills across desktop, network and server tech. We are looking for an all rounder with the ability to turn their hand to whatever challenge comes up and someone who is willing to be a technology agnostic. The role would suit a self starter who is currently operating at 2nd Line level.
