Your new role

In this exciting role as an IT/SAP Project Manager, Responsible for the successful management of complex multi-phased IT/SAP Projects for Hitachi Rail Limited (HRUK) by leading cross-functional teams to define, scope, plan, execute and deliver exceptional business value and benefits on time and within budget.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Establish and maintain a Project team for assigned IT/SAP Projects, including management of Internal and external resources assigned in the project.

  • Continuously demonstrate the principles of professional project management and governance, providing a consistently reliable service to sponsors, key stakeholders and colleagues.

  • Ensuring that projects are executed within specified timeframes and budget in accordance with declared quality and benefit targets using defined controls, processes and support tools.

  • Act as first point escalation across projects. Responsible for ownership to resolve RAID problems including liaising with wider stakeholder group as needed. Use technical business and strategic knowledge to support appropriate decision making and communication plans.

  • Adherence to the Transition Methodology to ensure a smooth transfer from Projects to IT/SAP Support without any service disruption.  Ensure all required system documentation is agreed upfront with SAP Support and delivered to agreed timescales.

  • Ensure detailed and up-to-date documentation is produced \ maintained for the IT/SAP solutions being delivered.

  • Provide accurate resource forecasts at any point in time for use in decision making around project request management, release planning or change impact analysis.

  • Produce Project Reports for presentation to key stakeholders.

  • Adherence to all Hitachi Rail Limited PMO procedures.

About you

It is our expectation that successful applicants should be able to demonstrate many, if not all of the experience and skills listed below:

  • Must extensive experience on SAP application platform and project management

  • Strong general knowledge of SAP modules and product portfolio

  • Experience of providing IT/SAP Project Management in Manufacturing and Operational Service & Maintenance environments, and good understanding of associated SAP modules, e.g. PM, WM, PP, QM

  • Solid understanding of SOX (where possible JSOX) / COBIT framework, associated methodologies and practices to ensure fully compliant support and maintenance

  • Experience of at least one significant project life-cycle including transition into support from a large, multi-disciplined IT/SAP project within the corporate functions of mid-large businesses

  • The ability to operate in a dynamic and rapidly expanding environment, requiring flexible thinking and regular collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience in delivering multiple IT/SAP projects

  • Experience in managing teams required to deliver projects

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead senior Steering Groups, and manage senior stakeholders.


Qualifications

  • Educated to degree standard and/or significant experience.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in working for global company or with Japanese and/or Italian based companies.
