Our client, a leading Government department, are now looking to expand their existing in-house Software Development team by recruiting experienced Java Developers.
Your new role
In this key role you will provide hands-on development skills but also support the lead developer with the upskilling and mentoring of junior developers.
£550 per day6 months initial contract
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong Java 11+ ability
- Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, REST API's, observability and monitoring, queue technologies and Spring security.
- Detailed knowledge of best practices such as SOLID principles
- Experience of building new and evolving microservices with emphasis on high availability and data integrity
- Highly experienced in test methodologies including unit testing with JUnit, use of TDD, integration tests and end-to-end testing, as a way to promote high quality codebases.
- Postgres (or other similar relational database) experience including interacting with databases from ORM technologies such as Hibernate.
- Experience of reviewing code and providing constructive feedback. Ability to interpret static code analysis reports.
- Experience of agile development practices, specifically including Scrum; and the ways of working including associated tooling (e.g. Jira and Confluence).
- Knowledge and experience of working with Git and CI/CD
- Experience of building new and evolving microservices with emphasis on high availability and data integrity, including the use of centralised logging (e.g. Grafana and Loki)
- Experience of, or interest in, frontend development in React and TypeScript
- Experience of, or interest in, mentoring and supporting junior members of the team to allow the team to grow.
- An interest in DevOps principles and orchestration tools such as Docker, Kubernetes clusters including helm charts, GitOps practices including Flux and service mesh technologies such as Istio
