THE GIG The Data & Analytics (D&A) Team has set the vision “To make every DM decision better with data” and is embarking on a transformational journey to “Execute faster in creating trust, access and value globally from all our data to empower our colleagues to stride forwards”. It is an exciting time to join the D&A team, with the opportunity to both set and guide the team and DM’s strategic direction. As our Junior Data Governance Analyst, you will be part of the Data Governance team working on exciting initiatives like data cataloging, data quality, data classification etc. You will be central to the success of the global Data Transformation initiative ensuring usage and adoption of the data and metadata of our critical data assets. We are at the beginning of the journey, so you will get the opportunity to define our Data Governance approach. You will work closely with the other data capabilities & broader business, supporting, challenging, and championing data and analytics for better decision making. Key responsibilities: · Utilising data profiling tools and techniques to discover, analyse and assess data quality within the organization and documenting the characteristics, quality & usability of these data assets contextually within the data catalogue. · Assist in defining data quality rules, data classification, and data lineage standards and processes. · Creating data quality rules on behalf of the business and identify and report any data quality issues or anomalies found during the data profiling process. · Support Data Governance initiatives by ensuring compliance with data management standards and policies. · Proactively suggest enhancements to the data catalogue to improve data discoverability, usability, and governance. · Capturing, validating and maintaining various types of metadata within Dr. Martens’ data catalogue that includes (but not limited to) data definitions, owners, classifications, sources, lineage etc. · Working closely with data owners, stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, business users etc. to gather and document the above types of metadata information and getting them validated, approved & certified using manual and automated workflows. · Regularly updating and enhancing the data catalogue to reflect changes in data assets, data sources & structures, and Data Governance policies. · Hold training and demos for the end-users on the data catalogue tool to ensure easy adoption for the business. · Communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote data catalogue adoption, educate users on data catalogue features and benefits, and address any concerns or inquiries related to the data catalogue. · Collaborate with other members of the Data Governance and compliance teams to establish and maintain Data Governance frameworks, data standards, and data stewardship processes. · Familiar with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to active metadata management and governance. THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART · Good knowledge of key Data Governance concepts & terminologies and passion around data and Data Governance. · Good theoretical and practical knowledge of data cataloguing concepts – metadata, lineage, profiling, quality etc. · Hands-on SQL, database querying skills on any one of relational or cloud-based data warehouses like SQL Server, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery etc. · Experience with Data Governance and/or cataloguing tools like Atlan, Informatica, Collibra or similar platforms. · Knowledge and/or skills with Python, API’s, DataOps, DataWarehousing, Business Intelligence/Reporting would be nice to have. · Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. · Self-driven and comfortable working autonomously. · Curious about and having the aptitude to learn new technologies. · Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate ideas, concepts, and solutions to peers and leaders.
