This role will be part of the UST UK Data Science team, which has achieved great recognition and results in its short life. The Data Scientist will engage with external Clients and internal customers, understand their needs, and deliver insights, recommendations and tools to shape their actions. This role offers an exciting opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to kick-start their career in Data Science while working on diverse and challenging projects across various industries.
This will involve the application of advanced analytical methodologies including predictive modelling, recommendation engines and statistical assessments on complex and often disjointed datasets, and taking the form of reports and presentations, or through the development of prototypes and dashboards.
This requires a blend of skills including programming, data analysis and statistics, as well as data-led storytelling, communication and business expertise. Additionally creative and innovative thinking, a proactive work ethic, attention to the fine details and the ability to challenge the status quo are also valuable traits.
You will frequently work as part of a scrum team, together with Data Scientists, ML engineers and analyst developers, to onboard datasets for analysis, and models scaled and automated for implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives, data challenges, and analytical requirements. Assist in translating business problems into Data Science solutions and delivering value-added recommendations.
- Delivery of both ad-hoc analysis requests from external Clients and internal customers, as well as proactive value-add research delivered through documents, dashboards, presentations, etc.
- Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to analyse large datasets and derive meaningful insights. Develop predictive models, optimization algorithms, and data visualizations to solve complex business problems.
- Support the integration of analytical models and solutions into client systems and processes. Assist in testing and validating models to ensure accuracy, scalability, and reliability in real-world applications.
- Participate in training programs, workshops, and self-study to enhance technical skills and domain knowledge. Sharing Data Science knowledge to the wider functions where you will turn raw data into useful and analysable derived data sets, and develop re-usable analytical and visualisation methods.
What you will bring:
- BSc/MSc/PhD in Maths, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science or related subject, or equivalent work experience.
- Previous internships or projects demonstrating hands-on experience in data analysis or machine learning are a plus.
- Knowledge and experience of the craft of creating actionable insights that non-technical stakeholders can act upon.
- Significant experience in advanced Data Science coding (eg. Python, R, SQL)
- Experience of working in a cloud production environment. Relevant certifications are advantageous. Effective communication of technical findings and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
