Established over 35 years ago, Beam Group is recognised as the UK’s only exclusive distributor of premium small electrical appliances. From humble beginnings initially distributing products in a wide number of categories, even sourcing and supplying under their own brand, they soon realised that they needed to create their own market and niche. After discovering a small and relatively unknown US brand called KitchenAid over 20 years ago, Beam Group focused their attentions on the lucrative small kitchen appliances industry, and they haven’t looked back since!

Focusing exclusively on premium brands, they have full distribution rights and responsibility for BISSELL Floorcare, Blueair Air Purification, DUUX Heating & Cooling, Steamery Laundry Care and Cuisinart SDA in the UK and Ireland, the exclusive distributors for KitchenAid and the primary supplier for Magimix, Dualit and Nespresso. Beam Group manage these premium brands within a comprehensive network of specialist retailers, online retailers, electrical retailers, department stores and leading independent stores. Their retail partners include the likes of Amazon, AO.com, John Lewis, Argos, Currys, Very, Lakeland and independent stores.

In November 2014 they were sold to a privately family owned global group of specialist distribution businesses who have continued to support them and drive the growth of the business and as profit centre that continues to grow substantially year on year, Beam Group are one of the most successful businesses based both nationally and in the local area.

Based in state of the art and purpose-built premises Beam Group have a fully equipped showrooms to demonstrate their award-winning brands and products, test kitchen and an open-plan, modern and spacious office, with a growing, hardworking and friendly team. With direct access to the A14 based just north of Cambridge in the picturesque village of Swavesey, their offices are ideally located from a number of commuting locations and with easy access to a number of local amenities.

With an emphasis on developing and managing brands, Beam Group has an unrivalled reputation within the industry for working with premium brands and developing them within the market. Having established strong relationships with many retailers and a strong track record in delivering products to stores and direct to consumers Beam Group has gained a reputation for being much more than a distributor.

The key responsibilities are:


  • Reporting directly to the National Account Channel Manager you will manage multiple brands within a chosen group of national retailers.
  • Managing key retail partners ensuring the business can support the individual demands of each retailer through the consistent and rapid growth which is being achieved.
  • Develop a strong sales strategy closely aligned to our brand partners to ensure we meet and exceed their growth targets and future ambitions.
  • Define retail sales targets, annual forecasts and implement necessary measures to secure their fulfilment and present internally and externally on a regular basis.
  • Identify business gaps and work with the necessary internal resources to address needs.
  • Have full ownership and accountability for the accuracy of your forecast, liaising internally with the Sales Operation Manager, Demand Planners and Brand Managers to ensure sufficient stock is available and aligned with planned marketing activities.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of key customer needs and requirements and assess the businesses capabilities in supporting them both now and in the future.
  • Develop and build strong relationships with your retail accounts to maximise sales opportunities whilst continually assessing their long term commercial and financial viability.
  • Driving the profitability of your accounts, by utilising all tools available. Regularly negotiating terms and cost prices, while also challenging processes and reducing returns.
  • Prepare weekly reports highlighting progress, sales and forecasts.
  • Work internally with the Brand Management team to define pricing and product range offering for each brand opportunity within each retail partner.
  • Drive incremental sales by identifying and proactively opening new channels / retailers. Use expertise and tenacity to generate new leads, and enhance the businesses proposition.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven track record at account management and sales
  • Proven ability to generate profitable sales with a view on the long and short term
  • Entrepreneurial character with strong organisational and communication skills
  • Current working knowledge of key national retailers, for reference John Lewis, Argos, Currys, Very, Lakeland & Costco or DIY & Grocer experience is desirable.
  • Expertise within the electrical retail sector in the UK advantageous and an understanding of Premium brands is a clear benefit
  • Self-motivated and experienced professional with a hands-on personality
  • Flexibility for frequent travel and occasional international travels are required

Location

Ideally commutable to Cambridge office – minimum requirement 1/2 days per week in the office or more depending on business requirements.
