As a Customer-facing Junior Solution Architect in RM, you will work with customers, sales staff and delivery teams to create and deliver solutions to customer problems. These solutions may include processes, services, and a technical solution which together deliver to the customer’s needs. Solution Architects may work as part of a bid team in response to a customer’s ITT, or directly with the customer in response to projects or change requests.
- Build a detailed understanding of our assessment products and services
- Understand customers and their business requirements
- Understand customers’ solution specifications defined by the project lead Solution Architect and how these meet the customer’s requirements so that they can effectively support the delivery of a project
- Work a part of delivery teams throughout the project delivery lifecycle in consultation with the lead Solution Architect – for example:
- Helping to ensure that development items are accurately documented for the development teams and supporting their understanding of customers’ requirements
- Supporting the testing of development changes by the internal QA team by ensuring that our QA team understands the expected customer use cases and any required configuration or setup
- Work directly with and assist customers during user acceptance testing phases both during initial project delivery and during subsequent change periods – for example:
- Liaising between the customer and internal teams to ensure that any necessary configuration or data setup for UAT testing is understood and completed
- Acting as a point of contact for questions or issues escalated from the internal support team
- Helping to ensure that any issues identified are documented and correctly prioritised to meet the customer’s expectations
- Work directly with customers and in consultation with the lead Solution Architect to support any required data setup and solution configuration activities during live service particularly ahead of examination sessions
- Take responsibility for documentation preparation and maintenance in consultation with the lead Solution Architect.
Facts & Figures
- Work as part of a delivery team for 1 or more customers or projects to deliver multi-million-pound contracts lasting anything between a few months for a single-session contract to multiple years for long-term contracts.
Decision Making
- A Junior Solution Architect will work closely with a customer or project lead Solution Architect. All key decisions will be in consultation with the lead Solution Architect but a Junior Solution Architect will take independent responsibility for managing business as usual activities including customer communication as they gain experience.
Impact & Influence
- A Junior Solution Architect will work closely with other individuals working on a project, including individuals from multiple RM internal teams across the UK, India and Australia.
- They will work with customer technical teams to help to build strong customer relationships.
A Junior Solution Architect must be able to understand and communicate technical information and will further develop these skills through working directly with a range of internal teams including offshore teams and with both UK and international customers. Initially Junior Solution Architects are more likely to work directly with internal and customer technical teams but as they develop will work with a wider range of internal and external stakeholders including business senior leaders.
All of our assessment solutions are highly technically solutions based on our own platforms that we develop ourselves. Junior Solution Architects are likely to come from a range of technical backgrounds that will already have allowed then to develop a subset of the technical and broader soft skills required for a Solution Architect. They may, for example, have prior experience of working directly with customers through a previous role. As they develop in the role, the Junior Solution architect will broaden their range of skills and be supported in their development areas. Potential technical backgrounds would include:
- Software development
- Customer support
- Technical operations
- Business analysis.
