Kimball Data Architect

Kimball Data Architect, £725-£750 per day inside IR35, 12-month Contract with extensions, Hybrid with two day a week in the Farnborough, Hampshire
I am working exclusively with a highly innovative global brand who are looking for a Kimball Data Architect.This position sits within the rapidly growing Data & Analytics Team who areresponsible for delivering data insights to the business so that they can use data to make better business and customer decisions, and shape future business strategy and also provide data insights to external partners such as large corporate customers and retailer groups. To cover heavy data ingestion work, they require a strong Data Architect with excellent communication to accelerate the pace of data ingestion to the AWS CDH and design/ develop the Kimball warehouse structures. Typical job responsibilities will be as follows:-

• Design, build, optimise, and maintain a Data Architecture which helps deliver the organisation data strategy including self-service dashboard creation by business users on a curated data asset set, and which supports complex data analytic/ data science services.
• Design and develop data structures, models and frameworks within the Enterprise Data Model, ensuring re-use and consistency of data models. Kimball data modelling.
• Design, maintain and document key database schemas and inter-dependencies within the Enterprise Data Model.
• Implement IT tools to support data governance with respect to Enterprise Data Model, to create transparency so that the data can be effectively accessed and utilised by data analysts and data scientists.
• Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of the transactional and Enterprise Data Model databases and data lake/warehouse concepts, design principles, architecture, and software.

Experience required

• Significant experience developing in AWS CDH architecture is essential.
• Significant experience in developing Kimball data warehouses from scratch either in legacy platforms or directly in AWS CDH is essential. Candidates who have only built Kimball warehouses bottom up in legacy platforms then must also have experience of migration to AWS CDH projects and further enhancements/ development to the Kimball structures in AWS CDH.
• Experience of implementing DBMS on AWS CDH (Redshift/ Snowflake or other) is required.
• Strong experience of data modelling in Kimball warehouses (from conception to optimisation), and of the design and management of Enterprise Data Models on the AWS Platform, including the ability to design and lead development of automated processes.
• Excellent SQL, Python and other data wrangling techniques.
• Proven ability in core Data Architecture skills including Data Analysis, Data Mining, Data Profiling, Data Modelling (ERD, Dimensional), Data Warehouse Design (Kimball, Inmon), Big Data Design (Lambda, Kappa), Predictive Analytics, Data Lifecycle management, Data Integration patterns and methods.
• In depth knowledge of AWS Big Data Storage Strategies and Technologies and knowledge of some of the following AWS services: Athena, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Neptune, SDLF
