Position: Class Teacher
Reporting to: The Head Teacher
Main Purpose: To teach as a Class Teacher to secure the highest standards of learning and achievement for pupils
OBJECTIVES
To ensure pupil entitlement to the national curriculum
To continuously raise standards of pupil achievement at all levels
To set appropriate and demanding expectations for pupils’ learning and motivation
To foster enjoyment and satisfaction in learning

Strategic direction of the school
Teaching, learning and the curriculum
Managing resources
KEY TASKS
To create a stimulating and challenging learning environment
To implement school policies, practices and schemes of work
To contribute to whole-school curriculum development by attending staff meetings and participating in professional development activities
To take responsibility for a curriculum area or whole school issue as agreed with the Head Teacher
To ensure effective teaching of whole class, groups or individuals so that teaching objectives are met
To plan and prepare the teaching of the National Curriculum with colleagues in your year group
To set clear targets for pupils’ learning
Identify pupils who have special educational needs and contribute to the preparation, implementation, monitoring and review of the IEP.
Identify pupils who have EAL or are more able and take account of this to plan effectively so that they can reach their potential
To assess, record and report to parents on the progress and attainment of their children
Set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline
To develop good working relationships with teachers, parents and governors
To deploy teaching assistants effectively involving them in the planning and management of children’s learning
To participate in Continuing Professional Development, including performance management as required by school policy
To establish, maintain and develop appropriate resources for teaching including ICT
To take on other duties as the Head Teacher may reasonably require

From time to time the needs of the school will inevitably change. As a member of the team, the successful candidate must be prepared to change areas of responsibility, re-negotiate his/her personal job description with the Head Teacher to allow for the development of the school and his/her own professional and personal development. The job description may be amended at any time, after discussion, but in any case will be reviewed annually.

Salary: £16,000.00-£20,000.00 per year
