Laboratory Technician to work with R&D teams providing support to scientists.
Core responsibilities are cell culture maintenance, analysing samples, media and buffer preparation, DNA/RNA preps, laboratory maintenance and organisation. Some examples include:
• pDNA, gDNA, RNA NGS preps
• Agar plates and LB broth prep
• Running samples on analytical equipment (such as HPLC, octet, Tecan, Hamilton, Miseq etc)
• Maintenance of mammalian cell cultures and mycoplasma testing
• Fed batch culture (flask and ambr15 formats)
• Lab maintenance including calibration checks, biological safety cabinet cleaning and restocking lab consumables
• Capable of resolving issues quickly and effectively, maintaining compliance at all times
• Maintaining accurate records of all work done
• Good computer skills and good organization skills
• Available for shifted working week (weekend worker, plus 3 week-days)
• Own means of transport to site would be beneficial
Education background of at least a Bachelor s degree (or equivalent), and 2 years of experience working in a lab. Due to the nature of the work and the training requirements, this role might not be suitable for someone straight out of university for example.
